While planning our honeymoon to Mallorca, Spain, we researched just about any and every place you could possibly think of. From the get-go we wanted to go to Europe, but we were a little skeptical of how the weather would be in mid October. I’m a warm weather girl though and through, and really didn’t want to risk ending up somewhere chilly (keep in mind, I consider anything below 75 degrees cold..) The Balearic Islands have been on my bucket list for ages, and turns out October in Mallorca was the ideal destination. It’s warm and sunny, but the scorching hot days are over, which was a compromise my husband and I agreed on.
Before we arrived, we really had no idea what to expect (we aren’t much of planners and usually wing it and hope for the best). Every inch of this magical island left us in complete awe – from the turquoise blue water, beautiful coastline, extravagant rocky mountains, and incredible Spanish architecture. We were based in the beautiful town of Sóller which ended up being the absolute perfect spot. We stayed in an airbnb flat that had breathtaking views of Port de Sóller which was only a 15 minute walk from us (our airbnb can be found here). Port de Sóller is a small coastal village full of restaurants, shops, and mini markets. I will argue this is what made our honeymoon such a breeze, it was like being on a resort without the resort if you know what I mean. Our daily meals consisted of omelets, seafood platters, pasta, and way too much gelato.
Renting a car is always a must for us, and made it really easy to explore local areas. Our favorite spot on the island was Deiá, if you can make It through the steep windy mountain pass you are rewarded with the most idyllic beach you can imagine. We spent the day posted up at Ca’s Patró March – a popular waterfront restaurant perched on the side of the rocky beach that is an absolute must. We enjoyed the rest of the afternoon taking a chilly dip in the crystal blue water and catching rays on the rocky beach.
Looking back at the trip makes me sentimental and so grateful for the amazing time we had. I could rave about this beautiful island forever, and dream of the day we’re back in the Balearic islands. Enjoy our Mallorca Spain honeymoon pictures shot on film that we will always cherish.
